• 3.1 million CDL’s in interstate in 2014

• Class 3-8 trucks traveled 279.1 billion miles in 2014

• Class 3-8 trucks consumed 44 billion gallons of fuel up from 43.3 billion in 2013

• Trucks moved 72.5% of all US freight tonnage in 2013

• Truckload irregular route fleet drivers’ pay was $52,600 in 2015 – up from $49,900 in 2014

• Nearly 9 out of 10 truckload carriers use idle reduction (APU’s and in-cab heaters)

• Fuel was 34% of for hire fleets operating costs in 2014 – down from 38% in 2013

• Driver wages went up from 34% to 35%

• Fuel Costs dropped 10% in 2014

• Overall operating costs increased 2% in 2014 over 2013

• 3.4 million roadside truck inspections in 2015. There were 470,906 out of service violations in 2014. This is a 14% out of service rate-well below the decade average of 22%

• Driver inspections resulted in 159,122 out of service violations, down from 166,223 in 2014
