NASTC SLEEP APNEA SOLUTION
We just completed our NASTC annual conference and if you were not able to attend this year mark it as a definite TO DO ITEM and put it on next year’s bucket list. It’s a great event that we put on each year. Nashville is a fun place to visit and we are right downtown where all of the action is. It was great seeing everyone again and I’d like to thank those who attended the Driver Health and Wellness breakout sessions to learn firsthand about this NASTC offering. Remember to get me your driver rosters with your drivers DOT Medical Expiration dates so we can get your company enrolled today. If you are on the NASTC Drug and Alcohol program you are already enrolled and all you need to do is add the medical card expiration dates to your quarterly roster submissions and we can take it from there.
December is the month when many drivers are home for the holidays and it is a convenient time to schedule an in-home apnea screening. December is also a time when many companies hold safety meetings with their drivers and if you need a topic we have a package to incorporate into your meeting program that starts with providing all of your drivers a NASTC Driver Portfolio.
This portfolio is designed to assist with timely compliance when a post-accident drug screen is required, to provide a company policy action guide during an emergency or accident, to provide critical medical information to emergency medical personnel when your driver is incapacitated, and to organize materials that will simplify medical qualifications when getting an examination from a certified medical examiner. Providing your drivers this portfolio will show your company is concerned about the driver’s wellbeing and help your drivers to keep their medical records organized throughout the year. They will be all buttoned up when they report for their DOT recerts. These are being offered for the price $9.95 each. David feels so strongly about this and the apnea issue that he really wants to get these out into everyone’s hands to help you with your driver retention rates.
Remember our Sleep Apnea solution allows your drivers to be proactive in advance of their DOT physicals. It is completely voluntary, confidential, is not a condition of employment and allows your drivers to make their own decisions on this important health issue.
Our goal is to help you retain your best drivers that all seem to be getting tagged on this issue during their physicals. As you know many of these drivers just decide to hang it up but we can help you and your drivers negotiate through the maze that is being put in front of them. I’ll be happy to do that.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your drivers.
