Court Blocks FMCSA Rule Targeting Non-Domiciled CDL Drivers
Last week, a federal court blocked the FMCSA’s new rule that aimed to phase out non-domiciled CDL holders — many of whom operate with unverifiable driving
records. The rule was designed to improve safety and accountability across the industry.
NASTC is disappointed in the court’s decision. We disagree with the claim that the industry will be forced to rely on inexperienced drivers to fill the gap.
The truth is: there are plenty of highly qualified, U.S.-based drivers currently sidelined due to the freight recession. We don’t have a shortage of drivers— we have a shortage of freight and standards that need enforcing.
We continue to support FMCSA’s effort to uphold the integrity of the CDL system and protect the motoring public.
